Possible online services disruption due to Internet related outage

A worldwide technology outage is causing disruption to some State of Illinois online systems.  We are aware of this issue and are diligently working on restoration.

Boating

Canoeing on Salt Creek is allowed, with access provided at a ramp near the north park boundary.

Fishing

Salt Creek can be fished for largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill, sunfish, crappie, channel catfish, bullheads and carp.

Hunting

Limited hunting is allowed. Check at the site office for details, and review the Site Hunting Information

Picnicking

Secluded picnic areas have tables, outdoor stoves and toilets. Drinking water and shelters are available at several locations. Park visitors also will find playground equipment and horseshoe pits available.

Shelter reservations are accepted through the ExploreMoreIL™ website.

Trails

Edward R. Madigan SFWA offers a scenic 7-mile hiking/bicycle trail, which meanders gently through grassland, woodland and riparian habitats. There is also a three-quarter mile jogging trail for physical fitness enthusiasts.

Wildlife

Among the species of wildlife at Madigan SFWA are deer, raccoon, pheasant, quail, rabbit and hawks.
