From the intersection of Rt. 17 and Rt. 1, go south on Rt. 1 for approximately 4 miles; turn east on 4000S Rd. Go 5 miles, and turn north on 12000E Rd. The preserve entrance is approximately 1/2 mile north of 4000S, on the west side of the road. There is space for 1 or 2 vehicles by the cabled driveway.

Description

Pembroke Savanna is a high quality dry sand savanna which harbors numerous uncommon flora and fauna. It is currently considered the best example of dry sand savanna in all of Illinois. Additionally, this site is part of a high quality, large-scale ecosystem of national significance.
