Over-the-counter deer firearm permit sales begin on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Due to recent software updates beyond IDNR’s control, some vendors may have limited availability to print permits and licenses. IDNR is working closely with the license system provider to quickly address the issue for those vendors. Conservation Programs

Ten young osprey chicks relocated from Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Virginia were released at two sites in Illinois this summer. The releases are part of an eight-year effort to restore the osprey as a nesting species in Illinois. Currently, the osprey is listed as an endangered species in the state.
