Freshwater marsh supports foraging habitat for a state-endangered bird and stopover habitat for migratory waterfowl. In addition, reconstructed dry-mesic and mesic prairie natural communities are home to several grasslands bird species that are sensitive to habitat fragmentation, such as Henslow’s sparrow, grasshopper sparrow, Savannah sparrow, dickcissel, field sparrow, eastern meadowlark, and bobolink.
