The site is in the City of St. Charles boarded by Campton Hills Road on the north, Peck Road to the east, Illinois State Route 38 on the south, and the Garfield Farm property on the west.

Description

The diverse and complex glacial topography of Campton Hills Park Land and Water Reserve was formed during the Woodfordian era of the Wisconsinan glaciation stage. The topography is dominated by a diverse landscape with kames, moraines, kettles, and wetland depressions. The site is composed of a mosaic of graminoid fen, calcareous seep, sedge meadow, basin marsh, oak woodland, and savanna. Collectively, these communities support over 300 native plant species. It was added to the Illinois Natural Areas Inventory (INAI #1670) for its presence of high-quality dry prairie (1.4 acres) which host a state-threatened species.
