Description

Orland Grassland Land and Water Reserve provides habitat for numerous grassland-dependent bird species, including a few of highest regional concern. Wetland pockets scattered across the site serve as migratory stopover locations and provide breeding habitat for wetland birds. The uplands also provide habitat for numerous species of birds. Most of the reserve has been seeded or plugged with native prairie, marsh, and savanna plant species. The vegetation is typical of an early-stage prairie restoration, although a small patch along the west edge and a wetland in the central portion of the site retain some remnant prairie and marsh plants.
