The reserve is centrally located in Lake County.

Description

Rhyan Tract Land and Water Reserve is a mosaic of upland and wetland habitats within the Almond Marsh Illinois Natural Areas Inventory site (INAI #1253). The uplands are composed of mature and successional bottomland and upland forest. The wetland communities consist of a centrally located pond, a degraded sedge meadow, and a stream corridor. There are a total of 29 plant species recorded to inhabit the wetland community. The site also serves as an important adjunct to the adjacent Almond Marsh Nature Preserve.
