Location

The site is in Naperville in the far southwestern potion of DuPage County adjacent to the Springbrook Prairie Nature Preserve. It is part of the boundary of the Morainal Section of the Northeastern Morainal Natural Division.

Description

Springbrook Marsh Land and Water Reserve is made up of prairie/wetland habitat restoration, low-gradient stream, and old field cultural communities. It is a fine example of a landscape-level restoration. It is recognized on the Illinois Natural Areas Inventory as Springbrook Prairie (INAI #1516) for its for its large fresh-water marsh that provides suitable habitat for two state-endangered wetland birds and one state-endangered grassland bird. The site lies within a preserve containing one of the largest contiguous grasslands in DuPage County and contains the highest-quality creek in DuPage County.
