Location

The site in the northeast quarter of Section one of Dundee Township. It is bounded to the west by the Fox River and Duncan Avenue to the east and extends south from I-90.

Description

Trout Park River’s Edge Land and Water Reserve protects virtually the entire Tout Park Illinois Natural Areas Inventory (INAI #0625) site. It contains Grade C mesic upland forest, Grade C dry-mesic upland forest, and is bisected by three high-gradient small streams that emanate from Trout Park Nature Preserve. The forested communities are arrayed along elevation, moisture, and soil gradients extending from the Fox River. Trout Park River’s Edge Land and Water Reserve and Trout Park Nature Preserve were included on the Advanced Identification (ADID) of Kane County for their high biological value.

Access

The site is open to the public. There is a small parking lot in immediate vicinity with access to the Fox River for small watercraft, a viewing platform, picnic tables, informational signage, and hiking/biking trail that extends to the regional Fox River Trail.
