Apply now for the Moraine View youth wingshooting clinic in McLean County
SPRINGFIELD - Youth aged 10 and older and adults can register online now for the introductory wingshooting clinic on Saturday, April 26 at Moraine View State Park located at 27374 Moraine View Rd. in Le Roy.
This introductory wingshooting clinic is designed for beginner and novice youth and adults interested in learning to shoot or improving their ability to shoot a shotgun at moving clay targets.
Introductory wingshooting clinics are about learning to safely shoot a shotgun at a moving target with reasonable reliability. The clinic starts with a shotgun safety presentation at 10:00 a.m. followed by a brief hands-on shotgun orientation session with wingshooting instructors. These clinics are taught by certified by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) or National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) instructors. Lunch is provided for participants. The afternoon is spent in the field shooting clay targets until approximately 4:00 p.m. Not only do the participants learn to safely handle and shoot a shotgun, but they also learn that being skilled at shooting clay targets is a lot of fun.
The clinic is sponsored by the Pheasants Forever - McLean County Chapter, the McLean County Sportsmen, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and the Illinois Conservation Foundation. Sponsors assist the wingshooting clinics by providing volunteers, and funding for the clay targets, shotshells, and lunch for the participants.
