Goal 2 - How does CREP try to achieve this goal?
Over 95% of land in Illinois is privately owned! CREP helps by working with land-owners to create a multi-functioning habitat that not only reduces soil erosion and improves water quality, it also creates recreational areas and quality habitat for many species.
Best Management Practices (BMPs) in the program convert crop ground into suitable conservation cover – creating the needed woodland habitat, wetland habitat, grassland habitat or a combinations of these habitat types.
