Project Title: Calumet Open Space Reserve Land Acquisition (Hegewisch Marsh)

Community and/or Species Focus: Hegewisch Marsh

Goals/Objectives:
  1. Purchase over 100 acres of wildlife habitat to permanently protect an important wetland that provides habitat for state-listed species
Achievements:
  1. ​A total of 108.1 acres were acquired that were transferred to the Chicago Park District; 10 acres were reserved for the environmental center site and 11 acres were placed in a conservation easement
