Project Title: Coordinating Strategy Development and Habitat Enhancement for Monarch Butterfly, a Focal Species of the Farmland and Prairie Campaign
Community and/or Species Focus: Monarch Butterfly
Goals/Objectives:
- Compile the Illinois' state summary for the Mid-Continental Monarch Butterfly Conservation Strategy
- Organize second Illinois Monarch Butterfly Summit
- Prepare an Illinois Monarch Project Action Plan that includes strategies to meet habitat targets
- Provide a primary point of contact and coordination for the Illinois Monarch Project and related activities
Achievements:
- A documented strategy for monarch butterfly conservation in Illinois that includes statewide and sector-specific targets
- A developed structure for planning and communicating about the Illinois Monarch Project
- An active and informed set of stakeholders that support the project through participation at the summit and other commitments
- A plan for ongoing funding for the Illinois Monarch Project
