Project T-50-D1

Project Title: The Effects of Habitat Fragmentation on Sensitive Aquatic Species

Community and/or Species Focus: Darters, Rainbow Darter, Greenside Darter

Goals/Objectives:

  1. Estimate darter population sizes of isolated populations and determine dispersal rate of individuals between isolated high quality patches

Achievements:

  1. For rainbow darters, fragmentation would decrease movement ability between riffles
  2. Rainbow darters were more abundant than greenside darters
  3. Rainbow darters showed declines at higher distance classes than greenside due to fragmentation effects

Post-Project Survey (if applicable): n/a

Project Period: 2008 - 2009

Principle Investigator(s): James Novak (Eastern Illinois University)

Final Report: T-50-D1
