Project Title: Effects of Off-channel Wetland Restoration on Breeding Bird Communities

Community and/or Species Focus:

Wetlands, Prothonotary Warbler, Yellow-throated Warbler, Wood Duck, Yellow-crowned Night-heron, and various other wetland birds

Goals/Objectives:
  1. Determine how the hydrologic restoration of off-channel wetlands within the Cache River Watershed affects diversity, abundance, and nesting success of breeding birds through comparison of treatment vs. control wetlands
Achievements:
  1. ​Density and nesting success of prothonotary warblers increased in the treatment wetlands
  2. Other bird species associated with forested wetlands also increased
