Project T-24-P1
Project Title: Effects of Off-channel Wetland Restoration on Breeding Bird Communities
Community and/or Species Focus:
Wetlands, Prothonotary Warbler, Yellow-throated Warbler, Wood Duck, Yellow-crowned Night-heron, and various other wetland birds
Goals/Objectives:
- Determine how the hydrologic restoration of off-channel wetlands within the Cache River Watershed affects diversity, abundance, and nesting success of breeding birds through comparison of treatment vs. control wetlands
Achievements:
- Density and nesting success of prothonotary warblers increased in the treatment wetlands
- Other bird species associated with forested wetlands also increased
