Project T-18-P1

Project Title: Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling and Analysis for the Cache River for the Purposes of Evaluating Current Conditions and Alternative Restoration Measures

Community and/or Species Focus: Cache River

Goals/Objectives:
  1. Develop a reliable hydrologic and hydraulic model to evaluate potential restoration methods
  2. Evaluate hydrology under current conditions and various restoration scenarios
Achievements:
  1. Determined that the current condition of the river exposes the eastern Lower Cache River corridor to excess flooding during major floods, but can also improve drainage in some areas during frequent floods
  2. Installing an East Outlet Structure with stop logs and culverts will lower flood elevations in the eastern portion
  3. Developed a calibrated hydrologic and hydraulic model
