Project Title: Large Scale Restoration along the Pecatonica River in Northern Illinois

Community and/or Species Focus: Pecatonica River, various SGCN

Goals/Objectives:
  1. Protect, restore, and connect riparian forests along the Pecatonica River
  2. Restore degraded woodlands by removing invasive species and planting native species
  3. Increase shrubland acreage
  4. Restore agricultural land and row crops to large, native prairies
  5. Improve water quality by restoring stream habitat along the Pecatonica River
  6. Provide restored, enhanced, and managed habitat for SGCN
Achievements:
  1. ​Removed invasive species from over 50 acres on and around the nature preserve
  2. Planted 12 acres of tree-cleared areas with native species
  3. Created over 90 acres of contiguous prairie habitat
