Project Title: Monitoring and Evaluating the Status of Bumble Bees in Illinois
Community and/or Species Focus: Bumble bees
Goals/Objectives:
- Establish a monitoring program for bumble bees throughout the state
- Investigate the statewide distribution of bumble bees, with focus on listed, SGCN, and watch-list species
- Develop a comprehensive list of bumble bee species of Illinois and assess changes in their distribution and conservation status
- Provide management recommendations
Achievements:
- Documentation and monitoring of bumble bee species within various habitats throughout Illinois
- Baseline data concerning bumble bee diversity and distributions in the state
- Documents including state species lists, distribution maps, and bumble bee identification materials
- Documentation of sites where federally listed, state SGCN listed, and state watch listed species are located
