Project Title: A Plan for the Recovery of the Endangered Barn Owl (Tyto alba) in Illinois

Community and/or Species Focus:

 Common barn owl

Goals/Objectives:
  1. Prepare a statewide recovery plan
  2. Identify and document all nesting attempts, observations, and reports in the last 10 years
  3. Identify potential grassland habitats in Illinois
  4. Implement a barn owl nest program
Achievements:
  1. ​Protected 200 acres of grassland habitat
  2. Restored several thousand acres
  3. Placed 75 new nest boxes and currently monitoring 135 others
  4. Discovered 48 new nests
