Project Title: Threats Analysis and Conservation Actions for the Illinois Cave Amphipod: Vulnerability Assessment of Groundwater Quality Land Use and Climate Change Impacts

Community and/or Species Focus:

 Illinois Cave Amphipod

Goals/Objectives:
  1. Convene a panel with expertise in Illinois cave amphipod ecology and management 
  2. Conduct a threats assessment for the species
  3. Determine the most salient threats facing the species
  4. Determine appropriate management actions associated with each threat
Achievements:
  1. ​The expert panel identified 21 threats associated with habitat, community, population, direct human impact, management, and climate change
  2. The most salient threats to the species include degraded water quality, landuse change, mortality sinkhole dumping, and management
  3. Several management actions for each salient threat were developed and are listed in Table 4 of the project's final report
