Wildlife Volunteers
Division of Wildlife Resources
Office of Resource Conservation
The Division of Wildlife Resources occasionally offers volunteer opportunities for the following activities:
- Controlled burns
- Habitat establishment and maintenance
- Furbearer census routes, woodcock counts, and upland bird surveys.
- Canada goose, mourning dove, or wood duck banding in June-September depending on the species. Note – we sometimes need to limit volunteer participation due to disease or programmatic concerns.
- Chronic Wasting Disease sampling
- Filing and scanning at headquarters, regional, and district offices
Preference for field volunteer opportunities will be given to those pursuing an education and/or career in wildlife management. Volunteers for field work should be in good health and be prepared to work outdoors for long hours under rough conditions.
