Over-the-counter deer firearm permit sales begin on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Due to recent software updates beyond IDNR’s control, some vendors may have limited availability to print permits and licenses. IDNR is working closely with the license system provider to quickly address the issue for those vendors. Frank Holten SRA is a great place to fish, picnic, or play golf.  In addition to the lakes and facilities located at Frank Holten, the park features a diversity of plant and animal life. Shade and decorative trees include Scotch pine, maple, oak, poplar, sycamore, ginko, tulip, redbud, sweetgum and wild cherry. Water lily, lilac, arrowhead, bridal wreath, honeysuckle bush and mock orange are some of the blossoming flowers and bushes.  The site is also home to rabbit, squirrel, raccoon, fox, groundhog, muskrat and mink.

Frank Holten now offers electric vehicle (EV) charging at the site office.
