The IDNR headquarters at 1 Natural Resources Way in Springfield has experienced a power outage and tree damage throughout the grounds as a result of severe storms in the area. The agency expects to reopen the building to the public on Monday, June 15, 2026, though this could be subject to change. Check back here for an update before planning to visit the office in person.

Camping

Camping spaces with vehicular access are provided. A sanitary dump station also is available.

Equestrian Trail

A 10-mile equestrian trail is open for public use from April 15 to Oct. 31.

Hiking

Try the Green River Nature Loop. This 1.6-mile loop trail is considered an easy route, it takes an average of 28 min to complete. Dogs aren't allowed on this trail.

Hunting

The entire 2,565-acre site is huntable, except for a 50 acre restricted area around the site residence. Hunting of pheasant, rabbit, quail, dove, squirrel, crow, fox, raccoon, coyote, turkey, opossum, skunk and deer is allowed.
