Campground Host Program

Become an Illinois state parks campground host

Do you enjoy camping, interacting with others and helping the public with a wide variety of questions? If so, then explore opportunities to become an Illinois state parks campground host in 2024!

Campground hosts are public relations liaisons for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and are often the first face to greet state park visitors. Hosts welcome campers, write camping permits, acquaint campers with park facilities and regulations, answer questions on local and statewide attractions, and help visitors plan their trips. Hosts live in their own RV, motor home or trailer at a designated spot within the site's campground.

Above all else, the quality all campground hosts possess is enthusiasm for working with the public. If you would like to become a campground host, please complete the Campground Host Program Packet.

For additional questions about the campground host program, please contact the site superintendent at the IDNR state park office of the site you wish to host. See the list of IDNR sites.
