The IDNR headquarters at 1 Natural Resources Way in Springfield has experienced a power outage and tree damage throughout the grounds as a result of severe storms in the area. The agency expects to reopen the building to the public on Monday, June 15, 2026, though this could be subject to change. Check back here for an update before planning to visit the office in person.

The Fort Massac State Park Visitor's Center and historic site is open on Thursday - Monday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Tuesday - Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The historic site includes the archaeological outline of the original 1754 French fort, as well as a replica of the 1802 American Fort that once stood on the site. The Visitor's Center has a reception area with information on the fort and the surrounding area. There is a short video about the history of Fort Massac available to view, plus an extensive prehistoric artifact collection on display.

The historic site offers educational programs presented by the site interpreter. The historical period is from the 1750s to the Civil War era. Classroom presentations are available. For more information, call 618-524-4712.
