Over-the-counter deer firearm permit sales begin on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Due to recent software updates beyond IDNR’s control, some vendors may have limited availability to print permits and licenses. IDNR is working closely with the license system provider to quickly address the issue for those vendors. To locate unaffected vendors, use the agent locator at https://www.exploremoreil.com/agentlocator.

Off-road trails

Illinois off-road vehicle trails run the gamut, from twisty, single-tracks to rocky climbs to soggy mud bogs, all daring dirt bikes, quads and ATVs to stir up the dirt.

For a unique off-road experience, head to Sahara Woods State Recreation Area, the only place in Illinois you can drive through an old mine area. Are you ready to take it off-road and enjoy the muddy side of Illinois?
