Over-the-counter deer firearm permit sales begin on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Due to recent software updates beyond IDNR’s control, some vendors may have limited availability to print permits and licenses. IDNR is working closely with the license system provider to quickly address the issue for those vendors. Picnic areas and restrooms are located at Gridley Lake, Drake Lake, Painter Pond, Geiss Pond, and the Prairie Lake day use area. Shelters are reservable for a fee of $25, or, if not reserved, they can be used on a first-come, first-serve basis. Shelter reservations may be made through ExploreMoreIL™.
