Yellow Creek - Borsdorf Farms LLC

On September 10th-12th, 2016, sileage leachate drained into an unnamed tributary of Yellow Creek, just downstream of the East Howardsville Road Bridge near Stockton, Illinois. On September 12th, response agencies determined that the pollution event affected 3.7 miles of Yellow Creek and its tributaries, and directly resulted in the deaths of an estimated 45,679 fish.

In October 2019, the IDNR, represented by the Illinois Attorney General, reached a settlement agreement with the responsible party. As part of the settlement agreement, the State of Illinois entered into a Consent Order requiring that the responsible party complete a four-year on-farm cover-crop conservation project adjacent to the impacted stretch of the unnamed tributary to Yellow Creek in an effort to improve the water quality of the Yellow Creek system.
