DNR Notices

  • Middle Fork Vermilion River from the Illinois State line to the town of Potomac is CLOSED effective June 10, 2026, due to the swift current, floating debris, submerged structures, and high-water level conditions are significantly hazardous to navigation. 
  • Effective noon on May 7, 2026, the Fox River is open from the Stratton Lock and Dam in McHenry County, south to the Bridge Street Bridge in Millington, Kendall County, allowing for non-emergency boating traffic. 
  • Effective starting at 4 p.m. on May 4, 2026, The Upper Fox River from the Stratton Lock and Dam north to the Wisconsin State Line, including the Chain O’Lakes system consisting of Grass Lake, Lake Marie, Channel Lake, Lake Catherine, Bluff Lake, Petite Lake, Fox Lake, Nippersink Lake, and Pistakee Lake, shall be reopened to boating traffic under a NO WAKE ONLY restriction.
