DNR Notices

  • Effective noon on May 7, 2026, the Fox River is open from the Stratton Lock and Dam in McHenry County, south to the Bridge Street Bridge in Millington, Kendall County, allowing for non-emergency boating traffic. 
  • Effective starting at 4 p.m. on May 4, 2026, The Upper Fox River from the Stratton Lock and Dam north to the Wisconsin State Line, including the Chain O’Lakes system consisting of Grass Lake, Lake Marie, Channel Lake, Lake Catherine, Bluff Lake, Petite Lake, Fox Lake, Nippersink Lake, and Pistakee Lake, shall be reopened to boating traffic under a NO WAKE ONLY restriction.
  • Middle Fork Vermilion River is open effective April 6, 2026, from the Illinois state line to the town of Potomac. 
  • Kishwaukee River is open effective April 24, 2026, from the Jim Gang Memorial Bypass Business Rt. 20 bridge near Cherry Valley, Winnebago County, south to Beltline Rd. at Kishwaukee River Rd., where the Kishwaukee flows into the Rock River near Woodcrest, IL.
