Goal 1 - Why is this an important issue in Illinois

Excess runoff from farm fields can cause algae blooms that reduce oxygen levels triggering the formation of a dead zone in the Gulf of Mexico. Reducing runoff is not only important to our local communities, but also the communities downstream.
