The IDNR headquarters at 1 Natural Resources Way in Springfield has experienced a power outage and tree damage throughout the grounds as a result of severe storms in the area. The agency expects to reopen the building to the public on Monday, June 15, 2026, though this could be subject to change. Check back here for an update before planning to visit the office in person.

The State Forestry Division recommends, to ensure the future growth of desirable trees in your forest and to understand markets; that forest landowners considering selling timber should first consult a professional forester.  Division of Forest Resources has assembled here some basic, important tools and advice for landowners who are considering selling timber. The division keeps a searchable list of licensed Illinois buyers and a sawmill directory.  Timberland owners may contact a local IDNR Forestry Division Forester and/or a professional, private Consulting Forester from the University of Illinois Directory of Consulting Foresters.
