Stay & Play with IDNR & the Illinois State Fair

The 2024 Illinois State Fair is fast approaching and to help celebrate the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is teaming up with the Illinois State Fair to offer free camping at select campgrounds near the fairgrounds with the purchase of a 2024 Illinois State Fair Admission Booklet! Participants can spend the day enjoying everything the State Fair has to offer and then stay the night at their favorite Springfield-area State Park for free. Imagine spending the day eating corndogs and watching horse-racing and then ending the day by a fire beneath the stars! Simply fill out the form below and follow the instructions. Happy Camping!

Who is Eligible: Anyone who loves the outdoors and the Illinois State Fair! Limit one campsite per Fair Booklet purchased between June 26th and July 3rd. 

Locations: Participating locations are  Jim Edgar Panther Creek State Fish and Wildlife Area, Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site, or Sangchris Lake State Park. All campsites are Class-A and have electricity and access to a shower house and dump station. Please rank your preferred camping location in the form below.

Dates: Campers may stay a maximum of two free nights with the earliest check-in being 3:00pm August 11th and the latest check-out being 1:00pm August 16th. Campers may purchase additional nights of camping at camp.exploremoreil.com.

How to Apply: Fill out the form below, including your 2024 Illinois State Fair Booklet receipt confirmation number . Booklets must be purchased between June 26th and July 3rd. Once purchased your booklet will be available for pick-up at the time of check-in at the campground host site of the selected campground along with your free reservation for your campsite. Availability: The promotion will be open through July 3rd and reservations will be taken on a first-come-first-served basis.
