Requesting Replacement Deer/Turkey Permits

  1. Permits Purchased Over the Counter (OTC)
  2. Permits Issued via the Lottery Drawing or Landowner Permits (lost or damaged)
  3. Permits Issued via the Lottery Drawing or Landowner Permits (never received in the mail)

Permits Purchased Over the Counter (OTC)

If you purchased a Deer or Turkey permit over the counter at one of our License Vendors and need a replacement of the permit, you MUST go to a License Vendor to have the permit replaced over the counter ($3.00 fee per replacement permit).

Permits Issued via the Lottery Drawing or Landowner Permits (lost or damaged)

Please mail a letter to IDNR requesting a replacement of your lost or damaged permit(s), along with a check ($3.00 fee per replacement permit being requested) made out to IDNR. Please include the following information in your letter:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Type of permit (firearm, muzzleloader, archery, etc.)
  • The county the permit was issued for
  • The permit number(s) - if available
  • Current address and phone number
  • A check ($3.00 PER PERMIT that you are requesting)

Mail your letter and check to:

Replacements are typically mailed 5 - 7 days from receipt of request (pending volume of requests being received).

Permits Issued via the Lottery Drawing or Landowner Permits (never received in the mail)

Prior to contacting us for a replacement, please check the Online Deer Inquiry System or the Online Turkey Inquiry System to confirm that you were issued a permit(s), and to confirm that the permit(s) were sent to the correct address. If both of these items are confirmed, please email DNR.Permits1@illinois.gov and state that you never received your permits. Please include the following information in your email:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Type of permit (firearm, muzzleloader, archery, etc.)
  • The county the permit was issued for
  • The permit number(s) - if available
  • Current address and phone number

Note: We are unable to contact each customer to confirm that we received your request for a replacement permit. If you require verification that we received your request, please indicate this in your letter or email.

Note: You may also visit the Springfield Office to have Lottery or Landowner replacement permits printed: One Natural Resources Way, Springfield, IL 62702 (Customer Service Window hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. M-F excluding holidays)
