Join Little Grassy Fish Hatchery and Giant City State Park Naturalists for Canoe Fishing at Lake Murphysboro State Park, a unique summer fishing experience that combines paddling, angling, and outdoor exploration. This family-friendly event invites participants to fish from canoes while enjoying the quiet coves and scenic shoreline of Lake Murphysboro.

Anglers of all skill levels are welcome. Participants will have the opportunity to fish for species such as bass, catfish, crappie, and sunfish while learning basic canoe-fishing techniques, water safety tips, and fish identification. Canoes, personal flotation devices (PFDs), fishing gear, bait, and tackle will be provided for registered participants.

What to Expect

· Canoe fishing on Lake Murphysboro (boats, PFDs, fishing gear, bait, and tackle provided)

· Informal fishing tips and water safety guidance before launch

· Opportunities for wildlife viewing and nature appreciation

What to Bring

· Illinois fishing license (required for ages 16 and older)

· Water, snacks, sun protection, and weather-appropriate clothing
