Sahara Woods Off-Highway Vehicle Trails open
Description
IDNR is excited to welcome visitors to a soft opening of the off-highway vehicle trails at Sahara Woods State Recreation Area in southern Illinois beginning Friday, Dec. 13.
With nearly 30 miles of off-highway trails for your riding enjoyment, this park is conveniently located 5 miles west of Harrisburg, south of Illinois 13. The trails will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Monday each week through Jan. 27.
A limit of 120 vehicles can use the site each day. All riders must complete a registration form and a waiver of liability prior to arrival at the site and present them at the time of check-in. Additionally, permits must be purchased for each OHV to reserve a rider's spot for the day. Receipts for permit purchase must be printed and submitted to the Sahara Woods office at the time of check-in.
The Sahara Woods OHV trails will close for the season after Jan. 27 and reopen in May with updated registration instructions. To learn more, visit https://dnr.illinois.gov/parks/offroad/park.saharawoods.html
