The Surface Coal Mining Land Conservation and Reclamation Act (225 ILCS 720) provides for the conservation and reclamation of lands affected by coal mining operations after February 1, 1983.
The Surface Mined-Land Conservation and Reclamation Act (225 ILCS 715) established control of environmental impacts for coal mining activities for operations prior to February 1, 1983.
