The IDNR headquarters at 1 Natural Resources Way in Springfield has experienced a power outage and tree damage throughout the grounds as a result of severe storms in the area. The agency expects to reopen the building to the public on Monday, June 15, 2026, though this could be subject to change. Check back here for an update before planning to visit the office in person.

Picnicking

While at Morrison-Rockwood State Park, be sure to visit one of the picnic areas—all equipped with tables and outdoor stoves. The Lakeview picnic area offers a beautiful view overlooking Lake Carlton. A pavilion with a fireplace adds to the rustic atmosphere. Electricity is available for those wanting a more modern facility. This shelter, along with the shelter at Cedar Ridge, can be reserved for large groups or family reunions.
