Making a Cherry Wood Table from a Log - From the cherry tree to a live edge, breadboard end, table. Just a quick video show the process from start to finish. A note about the breadboard ends: only the middle tennons are glued and the mortises toward the outside are large to allow for wood movement, mostly shrinkage in this case as the wood still has a lot of moisture. This 1-day workshop was an educational and networking event to provide the firewood processing industry with the latest knowledge about processing, kiln drying, and marketing of firewood. Presentation topics included updates on the Tree Care Industry Association's draft urban forest products standard; overview of mechanical harvesting of urban trees in Kenosha County, WI; updates from Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin; and an overview of Michigan State University's Sustainable Wood Recovery Initiative.

Cord Wood Boilers: Success Stories in Commercial Applications  by Wood Education and Resource Center; 1hr 25min 20sec; was held June 1, 2016.

This virtual workshop highlighted four successful wood energy conversion projects: Fort Faith Bible Camp, YMCA Storer Camp, Michigan Technological University's Ford Forestry Center, and Harvard Forest. Each presentation provides an overview of the facility; images of the installation; a description of the costs and savings associated with the project; and details about owner feedback, lessons learned, and operating issues.

Is Woody Biomass Energy Right for You? Using Feasibility Studies and Life Cycle Analyses to Explore Options by Wood Education and Resource Center; 1hr 26min 27sec; was held July 27, 2016.

This virtual workshop highlighted three wood energy feasibility studies at the Georgia State Prison Complex, Holderness School, and Menominee Tribal Enterprises. The event featured in depth presentations on the use of life-cycle cost analyses in the wood energy evaluations at all three sites.
