Over-the-counter deer firearm permit sales begin on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Due to recent software updates beyond IDNR’s control, some vendors may have limited availability to print permits and licenses. IDNR is working closely with the license system provider to quickly address the issue for those vendors. Off-Highway Vehicle Safety Education

Requirements

Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) safety education certification is not required to operate an all-terrain vehicle (ATV), off-highway motorcycle (OHM), or recreational OHV in Illinois.

If you intend to operate an OHV in another state, check that state's OHV safety certification requirements.

Course Options

Illinois does not currently offer OHV safety education courses for certification. An online OHV education study guide is available as a free resource to learn more about OHV safety.
