Over-the-counter deer firearm permit sales begin on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Due to recent software updates beyond IDNR’s control, some vendors may have limited availability to print permits and licenses. IDNR is working closely with the license system provider to quickly address the issue for those vendors. Legacy Tree Program Task Force

Illinois Big Tree Register, Magnolia acuminata, Springfield, Illinois, Nominators: Larry Mahan and James Ream Image from the University of Illinois Extension

On August 9^th 2024 Public Act 103-0863, created the Legacy Tree Program Task Force Act. This Act creates a Task Force to establish recommendations for the creation of a statewide legacy tree recognition program to promote the identification, awareness, commemoration, and preservation of significant trees in the State by no later than June 30, 2028.

The Legacy Tree Program Task Force will meet quarterly and the first meeting will be virtual and is scheduled for July 23^rd 2025 from 10 am. to 12 pm.
