Features and Behaviors

FEATURES
This species has pink flowers. The lower lip of the flower is fringed. A single flower develops at the stem tip. A large leaf clasps the stem at about its mid-point. The snake-mouth orchid grows to a height of about four to 20 inches tall.

BEHAVIORS
Snake-mouth orchid grows in low, moist, acidic areas. It blooms from June through August. This species is endangered in Illinois.
